You’re invited to the housewarming
Not in a theatre, but inside a real London apartment, with only 20 guests.
Come in, have a drink, eat something, meet the other guests. As the evening unfolds, you’ll enter the private world of a couple building a home across different languages and cultures.
Can we ever understand the person we love completely? And do we need to?
JE L’AIME is an intimate multilingual performance about everything that can and cannot be translated between two people.
CLOSE ENOUGH TO FEEL IT
JE L’AIME unfolds around you, throughout the apartment.
There is no distant stage. With only 20 guests, you are close enough to notice what usually gets lost in translation: a look, a silence, a gesture, the effort of trying to understand someone you love.
The evening moves between English and other languages. You won’t understand every word . You won’t need to. Much of what passes between two people happens before language anyway.
AND WHEN THE PERFORMANCE ENDS, THE EVENING DOESN’T
Stay. We’ll open another bottle, bring something to the table and make space for the conversations the performance has started.
There is no formal post-show talk. Have a drink, eat something, meet the other guests, compare what you noticed or simply stay around the table a little longer.
Your evening includes: a 70-minute intimate performance, drinks on arrival and afterwards, small bites around the table, and time to stay and meet the other guests.
Allow around 2 hours for the full evening.
COME ALONE, OR BRING SOMEONE
JE L’AIME is for people who live between languages or cultures, anyone who has loved someone whose normal isn’t quite their own, and those simply curious about how other people live, love and understand the world.
Come alone, bring a date, a friend, or someone whose normal is different from yours.
Exact address revealed 48 hours before each performance.
FAQ: Will I have to participate?
You’re a guest, not a performer.
You may be invited to pour a glass, lend a hand or join the karaoke, but you’ll never be put on the spot, asked to perform or expected to reveal anything personal.
You can experience the whole evening simply by being there.
