Je l’aime

By Tristan Bernays & Sophie Larsmon

Real home in Streatham becomes the stage.

You’re invited to A housewarming

CLOSE ENOUGH TO FEEL IT

JE L’AIME is coming to Streatham.

Inside a real Streatham home, with only 19 other guests, you’re invited to Liv & Vic’s housewarming.

Come in, have a drink, eat a little something and meet the other guests. Then, almost without noticing when it begins, you’ll find yourself inside the story of two people building a home and a life together.

A LOVE STORY YOU EXPERIENCE FROM INSIDE

JE L’AIME is an intimate, multilingual theatre experience about everything that can and cannot be translated between two people.

Liv and Vic love each other. But they come from different languages, cultures and ideas of what is normal. Sitting only a few feet away, you begin to notice the misunderstandings, assumptions and tiny differences that shape the life they are trying to build together.

“It’s so rich and active in my imagination. I closed my eyes on the Tube the next morning and could still see moments from it.”

Simon Lyshon, experience designer, AFTER EXPERIENCING JE L’AIME

AND WHEN THE PERFORMANCE ENDS, THE EVENING DOESN’T

Stay. We’ll open another bottle, bring something to the table and make space for the conversations the performance has started.

Have a drink, eat something, meet the other guests, compare what you noticed or simply stay around the table a little longer.

Your evening includes: a 70-minute intimate performance, drinks on arrival and afterwards, small bites around the table, and time to stay and meet the other guests. Allow around 2 hours for the full evening.

Come alone, or bring someone

JE L’AIME is for people who live between languages or cultures, anyone who has loved someone whose normal isn’t quite their own, and those simply curious about how other people live, love and understand the world.

You’re a guest, not a performer. You may be invited to pour a glass, lend a hand or join the karaoke, but everything is optional. You can experience the whole evening simply by being there.

Come as you would to a friend’s housewarming. Arrive on time ,  the evening begins the moment the door opens.
Allow around two hours. Drinks and small bites are included.
